Jevonte C. Porter, Sr. is a proud native son of Memphis, Tennessee, and a passionate public servant devoted to building a stronger, safer, and more united District 12. From the halls of Melrose High School, where he graduated as Valedictorian, to the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he earned his degree in Political Science and Communication Studies, Jevonte’s path has always pointed toward service and leadership.
Jevonte C. Porter, Sr. has spent his career building stronger communities, uplifting families, and fighting for opportunity across Shelby County. From city government to the nonprofit sector, Jevonte has always led with one goal in mind: to make our neighborhoods safer, more connected, and full of opportunity for everyone—no matter their ZIP code.
Jevonte brings a unique blend of policy insight, organizational leadership, and grassroots community engagement to every role he undertakes. As Director of Community Relations at Youth Villages, he leads strategic partnerships and programs for Memphis Allies, a violence intervention initiative focused on saving lives, creating jobs, and investing in our youth. He manages a dedicated team that works alongside schools, courts, hospitals, and community leaders, and helps ensure resources are getting to those who need them most.

Previously, Jevonte served as Development Officer for Regional One Health, where he helped raise critical funds to support healthcare access for local families, and as a Community Development Analyst for the City of Memphis, where he helped neighborhoods access services, improve infrastructure, and have a voice in city decisions. Jevonte believes that public service is not about politics—it’s about people. He’s built a reputation for collaboration, transparency, and results.
Deeply invested in the growth and transformation of Memphis, Jevonte holds numerous leadership roles, including Board Chair for City Year Memphis, Co-Chair of the More for Memphis Governing Body, and Community Engagement Chair for Mayor’s Young Professional Advisory Council.
He is a proud Leadership Memphis Executive Class member, Leadership Tennessee NEXT alum, and Urban Fellow of the City of Memphis. His recognition as a Memphis Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 and Urban Elite Top 40 Under 40 and a Shelby County Links Inc. Man of Impact & Inspiration is a testament to the impact of his leadership and commitment to his city.
Above all, Jevonte is a husband, father, and servant leader who believes in the power of people, policy, and purpose to create lasting change. He and his wife Shelby are raising their two children, Madison and Jevonte Jr., with the same values that guide his work every day: faith, service, and a deep love for Shelby County.
